This illustration shows the facade of the Hotel María Cristina in San Sebastián, designed in 1909 by French architect Charles Mewes, famous for designing the Ritz hotels in Madrid, London, and Paris. The project was managed by Francisco Urcola, a San Sebastián native. This hotel was a key player in San Sebastián's transformation into a tourist destination and one of the symbols of the Belle Époque.
